Chapter 2 Avaya C460 CLI Commands

ip icmp-errors

User level: read-write, admin.

If you are at the “read-write” user level, you can only access this command in Configure mode.

Type configure at the command prompt to enter configure mode.

Use the icmp-errorcommand to turn ICMP error messages on.

Use the no icmp-errorcommand to turn ICMP error messages off.

The syntax for this command is:

[no] ip icmp-errors

Example:

To turn the ICMP error messages on:

C460-1(configure)# ip icmp-errors

Done!

ip max-arp-entries

User level: read-write, admin.

If you are at the “read-write” user level, you can only access this command in Configure mode.

Type configure at the command prompt to enter configure mode.

Use the ip max-arp-entriescommand to set the maximum number of ARP cache entries allowed in the ARP cache.

Use the no ip max-arp-entriescommand to restore the default value of 4096. This command takes effect only after start-up.

The syntax for this command is:

[no] ip max-arp-entries <value>

value

The space available for the IP address table. When you decrease the

 

number of entries, it may cause the table to be relearned more

 

frequently. If you do not enter a value, then the current ARP Cache

 

size is shown.

Example:

To set the maximum number of ARP cache entries to 8000:

C460-1(configure)#ip max-arp-entries 8000
