Configuring 10-GE Uplink Card Interfaces

To configure the 10-GE uplink card interface, perform the following tasks, beginning in global

configuration mode:

Caution Loopbacks on tengigethernetphy interfaces disrupt service. Use this feature with car e.

Example

The following example shows how to configure 10-GE uplink card interfaces:

Switch(config)# interface tengigethernetphy 10/0

Switch(config-if)# cdl defect-indication force hop-endpoint

Command Purpose

Step1 Switch(config)# interface

tengigethernetphy slot/0

Switch(config-if)#

Selects the interface to configure and enters interface

configuration mode.

Step2 Switch(config-if)# [no] loopback Enables or disables internal loopback for testing and

defect isolation. (Optional)

Step3 Switch(config-if)# [no] laser shutdown Turns the laser on and off. (Optional)

Step4 Switch(config-if)# [no] cdl defect-indication

force hop-endpoint Enables or disables hop endpoint for in-band message

channel defect indications (Optional).

Step5 Switch(config-if)# [no] shutdown Enables or disables the interface.

Step6 Switch(config-if)# exit

Switch(config)

Returns to global configuration mode.

Step7 Switch(config)# interface

tengigethernetphy slot/0.subinterface

Switch(config-subif)#

Selects the subinterface to configure and enters

interface configuration mode.

Step8 Switch(config-subif)# [no] shutdown Enables or disables the interface.

Step9 Switch(config-subif)# exit

Switch(config)

Returns to global configuration mode.

Step10 Switch(config)# interface wavepatch

Selects the interface to configure and enters interface
