DEFINITY ECS is designed for fast, efficient, and reliable movement and man- agement of data as well as voice information. All information transmitted through the system is carried in a digital format. Analog signals — both voice and data — are converted to digital form before being switched. Analog data compatible with data modules and fax machines can be transmitted through DEFINITY ECS at speeds up to 28.8 kbps. Digital data can be transmitted at speeds up to 64 kbps per channel.
