Always operate the conde nser and chilled water pum ps du ring charging operat io ns to
prevent freeze-ups. Us e the Control Test Terminate Locko ut to monitor conditions and start the
pumps.
If the machine ha s been shipped wi th a holding charg e, the refrigerant will be added t hrough
the refrigerant charg ing valve (Figure 27 and Figure 28, valve 7) or to the pumpout c har g ing
connection. Firs t evacuate the nitr ogen holding charge from the vessels . Charge the refrig erant
as a gas until the system pressure exceeds 68 psig (469 kPa) for HCFC-22; 35 psig (141 kPa)
for HFC-134a. Afte r the machine is beyond this pressure the r efrigerant should be ch arged as a
liquid until al l of the recom mended refrigera nt charge has bee n added.
