Inspect the Heat Exchanger Tubes

Cooler

Inspect and clean the co ole r tubes at the end of the firs t op erating season. Because these
tubes have internal ridges, a rotary-type tube cleaning system is necessary to fully clean the
tubes. Upon inspec tion, the tube condition will de termine the schedule d frequency for cl eaning,
and will indicate wheth er water treatment is ad equ ate in the chilled water/ br i ne circuit. Inspect
the entering an d leaving chill ed water temperat ure sensors for signs of corro sion or scale.
Replace the sensor if cor r od ed or remove any scale if fou nd.

Condenser

Since this water circuit is usually an open-type system, the tubes may be subject to
contamination and scale. Clean the condenser tubes with a rotary tube cleaning system at least
once per year, and more of te n if the water is contaminat ed. Inspect the entering and leaving
condenser water sensors for signs of corrosion or scale. Replace the sensor if corroded or
remove any scale if found.
Higher than normal condenser pressur es, together with the inability to r each full refrigera tion
load, usually indicat e di rty tubes or air in the mach ine. If the refrigeratio n log indicates a rise
above normal condense r pressures, check the co nde nser refrigerant tem pe rature against the
