Extended Shutdown
The refrigerant shou ld be transferred into the stor a ge vessel (if supplied; s ee P um p out and
Refrigerant Transfer Procedures) in order to reduce machine pressure and possibility of leaks.
Maintain a holding c harge of 5 to 10 lbs (2.27 to 4.5 kg) of re frigerant to prevent air from leaking
into the machine.
If freezing temperatu res are likely to occur in the mac h ine area, drain the chil led water,
condenser water, and t he pu mpout condenser water c ir c u its to avoid freeze-up. K eep the
waterbox drains open.
Leave the oil charge in the machine with the oil heater and controls ener gized to maintain the
minimum oil reservoir temperature.
After Extended Shutdown
Be sure that the water system drains are closed. It may be advisable to flush the water
circuits to remove any soft rust which may have formed. This is a good time to brush the tubes if
necessary.
Check the cooler pressure on the LID default screen, and compare to the original holding
charge that was left in th e m ac hi ne. If (after adjusting f or ambient temperatu r e c han ges) any
loss in pressur e is indicated, ch eck for refrigerant leaks. See Check M ac hi ne Tightness section.
Recharge the machine by tra nsferring refrigera nt from the storage tank (if su ppl ied). Follow
the Pumpout and Refri gerant Transfer Proc edu res section. Observe freeze-up precautions.
