5. Close the charging valv e on the machine. Remove th e c opp er tube if no longer requi r ed.
Repair the Leak, Retest, and Apply Standing Vacuum Test
After pressurizing t he m ac hi ne, test for leaks with an el ectronic, halide lea k det ec t or, soap
bubble solution, or an ult rasonic leak detector. Bring the machine back to at mospheric
pressure, repair any leaks found, and retest.
After retesting and fin ding no leaks, apply a stan din g vacuum test, and then dehy d rate the
machine. Refer to the Sta nding Vacuum Test and Machi ne Dehydration in the Before Init ial
Start-Up section.
Checking Guide Vane Linkage
When the machine is off, the guide vanes are closed and the actuator mechanism is in the
position shown in Figure 38. If slack deve lops in the driv e chain, backlash can be eliminated as
follows:
1. With the machine shut do wn and the actuator fully cl os ed , remove the chain guard and
loosen the ac tuator bracket ho lddown bolts.
2. Loosen guide vane sprocket adj usting bolts.
3. Pry bracket upwards to remove slack, then retighten the bracket holddown bolts.
4. Retighten the guide v ane sprocket adjusting bolt s. Make sure that the guide v an e shaft is
rotated fully in the clo ckwise direction in ord er fo r it to be fully closed.
