Adjustment potentio meters are nearly linear. To make an initial settin g, determine the
percentage of t he potentiomete r rotation. Use the following formula to ca lculate the perce nt of
rotation. See Figure 32 and Figure 33.
Example: Starting c ur r en t is adjustable between 10 0% and 400% of motor full loa d current.
The initial setting for 20 0% starting current is as fo llo ws:
% of rotation = (desired setting) – ( m ini mum setting)
(maximum setting) – (minimum setting)
% of rotation = (200%) – (100%) = 1/3 of full rota tion (33%)
(400%) – (100%)
