regulates refrigeran t flow to control oil tempe rature entering the bearin gs. There is always a flow
of refrigerant bypassing the thermal expansion valve (TXV). The bulb for the expansion valve is
strapped to the o il supply line lea ving the heat exchan ger and the valve is set to maintain 110 F
(43 C).
Note: The expansion valve is not adjustable. Oil sump temperatu re may be at a lowe r tempera-
ture.
Remote Start/Stop Controls
A remote device, such as a time clock which uses a set of contacts, may be used to start and
stop the machine. Howev er , the device should not be pr ogr a mmed to start and stop the
machine in excess of 2 or 3 times every 12 hours. If more than 8 starts in 12 hours occur, then
an Excessive Starts alarm is displayed, preventing the machine from starting. The operator
must reset the alarm at the LID in order to override the starts counter and start the machine. If
Automatic Restart Af te r a Power Failure is not activa ted when a power failure oc c ur s , and the
remote contact is clos ed, the machine will indica te an alarm because of the loss of voltage.
The contacts for Remote S t art are wired into the starte r at terminal strip TB5, term i nals 8A
and 8B. See the certified dr a wings for further detail s on contact ratings. The c on tacts must be
dry (no power).
