Keyboard Shortcuts

The following key combinations (speedkeys, special characters) speed up use of the CLI:

Backspace—delete previous character

Ctrl-A—go to beginning of line

Ctrl-B—go backward one character

Ctrl-D—delete current character

Ctrl-E—go to end of line

Ctrl-F—go forward one character

Ctrl-H—display command history or retrieve a command

Ctrl-I—complete a keyword

Ctrl-K—delete to end of line

Ctrl-N—go to next line in history buffer

Ctrl-P—go to previous line in history buffer

Ctrl-T—transpose previous character

Ctrl-U,X—delete to beginning of line

Ctrl-W—delete previous word

Ctrl-Z—return to root command prompt

Delete key—delete next character

Tab key or space bar—command-line completion

Exit—go to next lower command prompt

Obtaining Help at the Command Line

As soon as you are in a command mode, there are several ways to access help:

To obtain a list of keywords at any command mode, do the following:

Enter a ? at the prompt or after a keyword. There must always be a space before the ?.

To obtain a list of keywords with a brief functional description, do the following: Enter help at the prompt.

To obtain a list of available options, do the following: Type a keyword followed by a space and a ?
