Identifying Distortion Products Using the RF Attenuator and Traces

If the responses in trace A and trace B differ, as in Figure 4-2 1, then attenuation is required. If there is no change in the signal level, the distortion is not caused internally. For example, the signal amplitude in Figure 4-22 is not high enough to cause internal distortion in the spectrum analyzer so any distortion that is displayed is present on the input signal
