adjusts the squelch level. The squelch level mutes weak signals and passes strong signals. The squelch level affects the audio output only. If the internal speaker is on, audio signals are not output unless the signal strength exceeds the squelch threshold. The squelch level does not affect the rear- AUX VIDEO OUT signal. Squelch level is indicated on-screen by the unitless numbers 0 to 100, with 0 being minimum squelch threshold (all signals are passed), and 100 being maximum squelch threshold (no signals are passed). The default squelch value is 0.

allows you to select between automatic and manual adjustment of the tracking generator’s switching attenuator. The HP 8591C cable TV analyzer can be manually adjusted from 0 to 60 dB in 10 dB steps. When auto-coupled, the SRC ATN function automatically adjusts the attenuator to yield the source amplitude level specified by the SRC PWR ON OFF softkey function. Set

SRC ATN MAN AUTO so that MAN is underlined (decoupled) for power sweeps greater than 10 dB for the HP 8591C cable TV analyzer.

offsets the displayed power of the tracking generator (SRC). Offset values may range from -100 dB to + 100 dB.

Using the source-power-offset capability of the tracking generator allows you to take system losses or gains into account, thereby displaying the actual power delivered to the device under test.
