You can perform other operations on you map while discovery is running, although certain tasks are restricted.

Network Discovery Summary dialog box

The Network Discovery Summary dialog box is automatically displayed when the discovery process completes:

If a scheduled discovery completes when the progress dialog box is in its minimized form, then instead of the summary dialog box being displayed, the refresh toolbar button becomes enabled:
