586CHAPTER 14: BULK CONFIGURATION

Devices will be shown in the tree, using the label that is currently being used on the map. The devices shown can be expanded to show the individual units that they contain.

Devices can be removed from the selection by highlighting the desired devices in the tree and then clicking the Remove Device button. Whenever this is done the tree will be updated to remove the chosen devices indicating that they are no longer selected.

If a device is added to the selection that is not supported by the bulk configuration operation, the device appears in the selection editor with a brief note next to the device name indicating the reason that the device is not supported. Unsupported devices cannot be expanded, to view the individual units that they contain, using the Selection Editor dialog box. The bulk configuration operation will not attempt to configure any unsupported devices that are present in the selection.

While editing a port selection it is also possible to expand the individual units in the selection contents tree to show the ports available on each unit. Note that all ports available on the units will be shown in the tree, regardless of whether they are selected or not. However, to differentiate between them selected ports will be shown in black with a green tick next to them, and unselected ports will be shown in grey with no tick.

Ports may be added to the selection by highlighting the desired ports in the tree and then clicking the Add Port button. Whenever this is done the tree will be updated to show a green tick next to each port that was highlighted, indicating that it is now selected.

Ports can be removed from the selection by highlighting the desired ports in the tree and then clicking the Remove Port button. Whenever this is done the tree will be updated to remove the green tick next to each port that was highlighted, and grey the port entry, indicating that it is no longer selected.

To add ports belonging to a device that is not currently shown in the selection the device must first be added, using the Add Device button. Individual ports can then be selected on this device as explained above.

All ports belonging to a particular device can be quickly added or removed from the selection, by selecting the device, and then clicking the Add Port button or Removed Port button respectively.
