SELECTING THE RECEPTION MODE

SELECTING THE RECEPTION MODE

There are two ways you can set up your machine to handle incoming calls:

Fax mode

Tel mode (handset option or exter- nal telephone required)

The default setting is Fax mode. You can change this with the User Tools.

P.203 “Changing the User Parame- ters”

Fax Mode (Auto Reception Mode)

When a telephone call comes in, the machine receives it automatically as a fax message. Use this setting for a dedicated fax line.

Telephone Mode

When a call comes in, you have to pick up the handset or external tele- phone and decide whether the call is a fax message yourself. If you hear a voice, continue your conversation as you would using a normal telephone. If you hear high pitched beeps, in- struct the machine to receive the fax by following the procedure below.

Use this setting if you wish to share the line between the fax machine and a telephone.

-Receiving a Fax in Telephone Mode

This feature needs a User Function key programmed as {Start Manual RX}. By default, {F1} is already assigned

this function. ⇒ P.164 “ASSIGNING USER FUNCTION KEYS”

A When the machine rings, pick up the handset.

B If you hear beeps, press the User

Function key ({F1}{F5}) which

has been programmed as the {Start

Manual RX} key.
