12.1.1 Identification of disk slot
Toperform active replacement of a disk drive, you need to know the physical device
name or logical device name of the drive to be installed or removed. When a disk
erroris likely to occur or occurs in the system, normally you can check messages
regardinga disk that is likely to cause or has caused an error from the system
console. This information is recorded also in the /var/adm/messages file.
Theseerror messages normally indicate the internal disk drives in which the errors
haveoccurred by their physical or logical device names. In addition, depending on
theapplication, the slot number of the disk may be reported.
