Option Description Application
-i Displaysthe interface status. The
displayedconten t includes
informationon incoming and
outgoingpackets, incoming and
outgoing errors, collisions, and
queues.
Allowsyou t o view a concise
overviewof the networkstatus .
-iinterval Specifyinga numeric value after the
-ioption executes the n etstat(1M)
command at intervals of the
specifiednum ber of seconds.
Identifiesinterm ittent or long-term
networkevents .Y ou can view
nighttimeevents at a glance by
pipingthe netstat outputto a file.
-p Displaysthe media table. Allowsyou to check the MAC
addressesof the h ost on the
subnetwork.
-r Displays the routing table. Allowsyou to check the routing
information.
-n Convertsa host name into an IP
addressand then d isplays it.
Allowsyou to ch eck the IP address
insteadof the host name.
