SECTION 710

GENERAL

The Least Cost Routing (LCR) feature is used by the system to select the most economical route (line) when originating outside calls.

The Electra Mark11 provides this feature as an option

and requires the installation of an LCR-E ETU. Additionally, a portable computer PC-82OlA/PC-8300 or APC IV manufactured by NEC Corporation (or equivalent) is required to program the LCR feature.

The LCR feature provided with the Electra Mark11 Digital Telephone System can select lines, such as FX

(Foreign Exchange), SCC (Specialized Common

Carrier), Outward WATS (Wide Area

Telecommunications Service), DDD (Direct Distance Dial), and Tie lines. LCR directs the calls through the least expensive route, based on the number dialed, the time of day, and the day of the week, as previously programmed in the LCR package.

LCR cannot access CCSA (Common Control Switching Arrangement) lines or incoming only lines such as DID

(Direct Inward Dial) or Inward WATS lines. In addition, the LCR feature cannot be used to place operator, credit card, international, or uniform dialing calls. Manually selecting a trunk bypasses LCR.
