Setting Up a Client Computer

This section describes the procedures for setting up a client on a network that

1 uses Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT Server or Windows NT Work- station as a print server.

When using a Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT print server, select a shared printer on Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT.

Limitation

When using a print server connected to the printer with SmartNetMonitor for Client, you cannot use Recovery Printing and Parallel Printing.

Note

This section assumes that the client has already been configured to communi- cate with a Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows NT print server. Do not begin the following procedure until the client has been set up and configured correctly.

A Install the printer driver as a local printer.

Note

Any port can be selected during the installation, however, LPT1 is recom- mended.

B Click [Start], point to [Settings], and then click [Printers].

C Click the icon of the printer you want to use. On the [File] menu, click [Prop- erties].
