DIRECT INWARD SYSTEM ACCESS (DISA)

General Description

This feature allows an outside caller to access the system using an exchange network connection without Atten- dant or station assistance. The outside user may originate calls over any or all of the system's facilities such as WATS, FX, Tie Line or CCSA. The outside user can also directly call stations and access miscellaneous trunks for such features as dictation access.

Operating Procedure

1.Dial the number to connect to the system.

2.After ringback tone, service set tone is received.

3.Dial the DISA identification code. If accepted, system dial tone will be heard. If denied, busy tone will be heard.

4.Dial the desired number (trunk access code, station number, or Digital Announcement Trunk Card access/ record code, and then card number).

Service Conditions

1.Direct Inward System Access (DISA) Code Limitations

a.In the case of a system with AP01 card:

•Number of digits: 1 digit-10 digits (If Check Code is provided, limited to 8 digits)

If AP01 card is utilized for Authorization Code, the same number of digits must be assigned to Au- thorization Code and Direct Inward System Access (DISA) Code.

•Number of codes: Up to 1,000 codes combined with Authorization Code and forced Account Code

b.In the case of a system without AP01 card:

•Number of digits: 1 digit-8 digits

•Number of codes: The maximum number of codes depends on the numbering scheme and digit number. For details, refer to APPENDIX 3.

2.Dual-Tone, Multi-Frequency (DTMF) instruments are required for DISA. A portable tone generator may be utilized in circumstances where such instruments are not available.

3.A DISA identification code must be programmed into the system to identify the user accessing this service.

4.The DISA identification code may be assigned a Class of Service limiting access to capabilities by an out- side caller.

5.DISA identification codes can be entered from the Maintenance Administration Terminal (MAT), the Cus- tomer Administration Terminal (CAT) and Attendant Console.

6.A dedicated trunk is used for DISA access. The outside user dials a dedicated number to access this capa- bility.

7.DISA codes can be printed out in the Station Message Detail Recording (SMDR) record for Tandem Con- nection.
