The following parameters can be set:

SIM State | Use the |
| render all SIM functions on the Switch inoperable. |

Role State | Use the |
| Candidate – A Candidate Switch (CaS) is not the member of a SIM group but is connected to a |
| Commander Switch. This is the default setting for the SIM role. |
| Commander – Choosing this parameter will make the Switch a Commander Switch (CS). The |
| user may join other switches to this Switch, over Ethernet, to be part of its SIM group. Choosing |
| this option will also enable the Switch to be configured for SIM. |

|
Group Name | The user may enter a name for the group. |
|
|
Discovery | The user may set the discovery protocol interval, in seconds that the Switch will send out |
Interval | discovery packets. Returning information to a Commander Switch will include information about |
| other switches connected to it. (Ex. MS, CaS). The user may set the Discovery Interval from 30 |
| to 90 seconds. |
|
|
Hold Time Count | This parameter may be set for the time, in seconds the Switch will hold information sent to it |
| from other switches, utilizing the Discovery Interval. The user may set the hold time from 100 |
| to 255 seconds. |
|
|
Click Apply to implement the settings.
After enabling the Switch to be a Commander Switch (CS), the added links to aid the user in configuring SIM through the Configuration Backup/Restore and Upload Log File.
Single IP Management folder will then contain four web, including Topology, Firmware Upgrade and
Topology
The Topology window will be used to configure and manage the Switch within the SIM group and requires Java script to function properly on your computer.
The Java Runtime Environment on your server should initiate and lead you to the topology window, as seen below.
