Open Oil Circuit Valves
Check that the oil f ilter isolation v alves are open by removing the valv e cap and checkin g the
valve stem. (See Schedul ed Maintenance, Cha nging Oil Filter.)
Torque All Gasketed Joints
Gaskets normally have relaxed by the time the machine arrives at the jobsite. Tighten all
gasketed joints to ens ur e a le ak tight machine.
Note: On open-drive machines, check the machine cold alignment. Refer to Machine Align-
ment in the Maintenance sectio n.
Check Machine Tightness
Figure 28 outlines the proper sequence and procedur es f or leak testing.
17/19EX chillers are shi pped with the refrige rant contained in the ut ility vessel and the oil
charge shipped in the compressor . The cooler/conde nser vessels wi ll have a 15 psig (103 kPa)
refrigerant charge. Units may be ordered wit h the refrigerant ship ped separately, alon g wit h a
15 psig (103 kPa) nitroge n-holding charge in eac h v es s e l. To determine if there are any leaks,
the machine should be char g ed with refrigerant . Use an electronic leak det ector to check all
flanges and solder join ts after the machine is pre ssurized. If any lea k s ar e det ected, follow the
leak test procedure.
If the machine is spring is o lated, keep all springs bl ocked in both direct ion s in order to
