HFC-134a is the standar d r ef rigerant in the 17/19E X . At normal atmospheric pre ssure,

HFC-134a will boil at -14 F (-25 C) and must, therefore , be kept in pressurized containers or

storage tanks. The refr ig erant is practicall y odor l ess when mixed with air. Th is refrigerant is

non-combustible at at m os p heric pressure. Read t he Material Safety Dat a S he et and the latest

ASHRAE Safety Guide for M ec h anical Refrigera ti on to learn more about saf e han dling of this

refrigerant.

HFC-134a will dissolve oil and some non-metallic materials, dry the skin, and, in

heavy concentrations, may displace enough oxygen to cause asphyxiation. In

handling this refrigerant, protect the hands and eyes and avoid breathing fumes.
