8. Turn on oil heater and warm the oil to 140 to 150 F (60 to 66 C). Operate the oil pump for 2

minutes. Add oil if req uir e d to keep level up to lower sig ht glass.

Oil should be visible in the reservoir sight gla s s dur in g all operating and shut do wn condi-

tions.

Oil Specification

If oil is to be added, it must meet the following Carrie r specifications:

• Oil Type for units using HFC-134a............................................Inhibited

polyol ester-based syn thetic compressor oil formatt ed for use with

HCFC and HFC, gear-driven, hermetic compressors.

• ISO Viscosity Grade............................................................................68

The polyol ester-based oil may be ordered from you r loc al Carrier representat ive (Carrier

Part No. PP23B2103).

Oil Changes

Carrier recommends chan ging the oil after the fir s t year of operation and every t hree to five

years thereafter as a mi nim u m along with a yearly oil anal ysis. However, if a con ti nuous oil

monitoring system is functioning and a yearly oil analysis is performed, time between oil

changes can be extended.
