If the bearing cap does not seat completely, rem ov e and reset the floating la by r in th seal
position. When inst all ing upper bearing cap the floating labyrinth seal s sometimes rotate
and the anti-ro tation β€˜β€˜tab’’ does not seat in its holder , thus preventin g the bearing housing
from seating properly . This procedure shoul d be r ep eated until the bearin g cap seats prop-
erly.
14. Reinstall the bearing housing split bolts. Be fo re torquing bearing hou sing cap bolts, rotate
shaft by hand while bum pin g bearing housing with a rubber or rawhide mallet in t he
horizontal and axial planes to allow the bearing s to align themselves to t he s ha ft journals.
15. Torque the beari ng housing cap b olts by followi ng the torque val ues as provided in Table 6.
