straightness and mak e an y corrections requir ed. Do not force the ring halves to gether.
Excessive force may alter the roundness or flatness of the ring which can change its oil
delivery performan ce. Apply locking compou nd to the oil ring screws prior to reassembly.
10. Assemble the top half of the bearing liner making sure that the match marks on the liner
halves align with one another. Failure to ensure alignment of match marks can cause
misalignment an d possible damag e to bearings an d journal surfa ces. Reinstall an y split
bolts, if supp lied, between th e bearing halve s.
11. Some of the pipe plugs in the h ousing are metric thread type. Thes e are identified as those
which have a copper, lead , or similar material wash er. If these plugs are remo v ed, be
careful not to lose the wa shers. Before reassembl y, inspect the washers and replace them
as required.
12. Before installing the bearing cap, observe the po sition of the floating la by r in th seal. The
β€˜β€˜tab’’ must be on top to engage the pocket. Failure to pos ition the seal pro perly will result in
damage when the cap is assemb led.
13. Carefully lower the be ar in g housing cap over the floa ting seals. Keep the bearin g cap level
to avoid binding and pos s ib ly damaging the seals. T he be aring cap should seat ev enl y on
the bearing housing bas e.
