The server has one slot for installing a backup device such as a magnetic tape drive.

Installation Considerations

The server can contain a single-height SCSI device or IDE device.

„SCSI device

Set SCSI IDs to ID0 - ID6 when you connect the device with the Ultra 320 (B) connector on the baseboard. The termination setting should be "invalid."

„IDE device

Connect the IDE device to the unused connector of standard CD-ROM drive cable. Set the device as "Slave" using the jumper pin of the device. Refer to the manual coming with the IDE device for details.

Installation

1.See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.

2.Pull out the server from the rack.

3.Open the front access cover.

4.Remove the drive from its protective wrapper and place it on an antistatic surface.

5.Record the new drive model and serial numbers in your equipment log.

6.Set any jumpers or switches on the new drive according to the drive manufacturer's instructions.
