Adjustment

— Having obtained the net mis a lignment, the amount b y wh ic h t he equipment
must be moved c an now be calc ulated.
To determine:
S — amount of movement (in plan ) or the thickness of shim (in elevation) require d.
Obtain:
D — coupling face diameter in inches (or indicator but t on circle)
L — distance between fron t an d rear holddown bolts (inch es)
M — net misalig nment in inche s
And:
Divide L, the bolt dist anc e , by D, the coupling diamet er. Multiply the result by M , t he ne t
misalignment.
Example: Fa ce diameter 5 in. (D). Dist anc e between front and rear hold down bolts 30 in.
(L). Net misalignment in elevation .012 in. (M).
30 divided by 5 is 6
6 multiplied by .012 is .072 in.
S = .072 in.
S = Lx M
D
