33 • CS interface configuration

 

 

Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of interfaces in the CS context and describes the tasks involved in their con- figuration. Within the CS context, an interface is a logical entity providing call signaling for incoming and out- going calls to and from telephony ports and voice over IP gateways. It represents logical connections to other equipment or networks. CS interfaces are used as source and destination in the call router and are bound to physical ports or logical gateways.

Interface names can be any arbitrary string with a maximum of 25 characters. For ease of identification, the interface type can be a part of the name. Figure 52 illustrates the function of the CS interfaces. The types of CS interfaces are:

PSTN interfaces telephony. Binding is done from a port to an interface.

VoIP interface provide voice over IP settings in addition to the general CS interface parameters. These inter- faces must be explicitly bound to an existing VoIP gateway.

Interfaces can use mapping tables and precall service tables to manipulate call properties before the call is being offered to the call router.

CS interface configuration task list
