Configuring BFD

Configuring BFD for BGP

Complete these steps to configure BFD for BGP.

 

Command

Purpose

Step 1

 

 

enable

Enables privileged EXEC mode.

 

 

Enter your password if prompted.

 

Example:

 

 

Router> enable

 

Step 2

 

 

configure terminal

Enters global configuration mode.

 

Example:

 

 

Router# configure terminal

 

Step 3

 

 

Router(config)# router bgp as-tag

Specifies a BGP process and enter router configuration mode.

Step 4

 

 

Router(config)# neighbor ip-address

Enables support for BFD failover.

 

fall-over bfd

 

Step 5

 

 

exit

Exits configuration mode.

 

Example:

 

 

Router(config)# exit

 

 

Router#

 

Step 6

 

 

show bfd neighbors [details]

Use the following commands to verify the BFD configuration:

 

show ip bgp neighbor

show bfd neighbors [details] —Verifies that the BFD neighbor is

 

 

active and displays the routing protocols that BFD has registered.

 

 

show ip bgp neighbor—Displays information about BGP and TCP

 

 

connections to neighbors.

 

 

 

Configuring BFD for IS-IS

Complete these steps to configure BFD for IS-IS on a single interface.
