Chapter 24 Configuring QoS

Configuring Quality of Service (QoS)

Note You can use the show policy-mapcommand to verify your configuration.

Attaching the Policy Map to an Interface

After you create the policy map, you must attach it to an interface. Policy maps can be attached to either the input or output direction of the interface.

Complete these steps to attach the policy map to an interface:

Step 1 Enter enable mode.

Router> enable

Step 2 Enter the password.

Password: password

When the prompt changes to Router, you have entered enable mode.

Step 3 Enter global configuration mode.

Router# configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Step 4 Specify the interface to which you want to apply the policy map.

Router(config)# interface gigabitEthernet0/1

Step 5 Use the service-policycommand to attach the policy map to an interface. The input and output parameters specify the direction in which router applies the policy map.

Router(config-if)# service-policy output policy1

Step 6 Exit configuration mode.

Router(config-cmap)# end

Router#

Note You can use the show policy map interface command to verify your configuration.
