Chapter 19 Configuring Bidirectional Forwarding Detection

Configuring BFD

 

Command

Purpose

Specifies the BFD session parameters.

 

min_rx 50 multiplier 3

Note You can also use the show bfd neighbors and show ip ospf commands to display troubleshooting information about BFD and OSPF.

Configuring BFD for OSPF on All Interfaces

Complete these steps to configure BFD for OSPF on all interfaces.

 

Command

Purpose

enable

Enables privileged EXEC mode.

 

 

Enter your password if prompted.

 

Example:

 

 

Router> enable

 

Step 2

 

 

configure terminal

Enters global configuration mode.

 

Example:

 

 

Router# configure terminal

 

Step 3

 

 

Router(config)# router ospf 100

Creates a configuration for an OSPF process.

Step 4

 

 

Router(config)# bfd all-interfaces

Enables BFD globally on all interfaces associated with the OSPF routing

 

 

process.

Step 5

 

 

exit

Exits configuration mode.

Router(config)# exit

Note You can disable BFD on a single interface using the ip ospf bfd disable command when configuring the relevant interface.
