Direct Inward Dialing

How Call Forwarding and Extension Hunting Interact with DID Calls

The following chart summarizes how the system handles unanswered DID calls when Call Forwarding and/ or Extension Hunting are enabled at an extension. For the specific routing details, see:

DID Call Handling with Call Forwarding and Extension Hunting (page 103).

DID Station Intercept and Line Overflow (page 105).

Priority 1

Priority 2

Call Forwarding

Extension

Hunting

If the call is unanswered, the system checks the highest priority routing choice first (i.e., Call Forwarding).

If the highest priority routing choice is not set up to handle the call condition, the system checks the next lower choice. For example, if an extension has Ring No Answer Forward- ing enabled and the call routes to that extension while it is busy, the system will then check Extension Hunting.

Priority 3
DID Station

Intercept

If Extension Hunting is disabled or not set up to handle the call condition, the system checks DID Station Intercept.

Priority 4

Line Overflow

If no there routing choices are found, the call will follow Line Overflow.

Priority 5

Key Ring

If Line Overflow is disabled, the call will go to Key Ring (with no overflow).
