Usable Circuit Packs
Every circuit pack used in the Release 8 system must conform to the minimum
usable vintage requirements for that s ystem. At a presale site inspec tion, the
remediation process c hecks the vintages of existing c ircuit packs to b e reused in
the Release 8 system. Circuit packs with unusa ble vintages must be rep laced.

pack vintages. For information ab out usable vintages of non-United States circuit
packs, refer to the ITAC’s Tech Alert from your regional distributor.
Contact Network Technicians
Contact the technician for e ach public and private network acc essed by the
system before the upgrad e begins. Otherwise, it is p ossible that network-acc ess
trunk facilities will be busied out at the far end.
Required Tools
The following tools and items may be req uired during the up grade:
■1/4-inch flat blade sc rewdriver
■1/4-inch socket with ratchet ( optional)
■Long-nose pliers to straighten backplane p ins
■Static-proof or original circ uit pack pac kaging for transpor ting circuit
packs
■Labels for identifying the p ort circuit p acks and cab les attached to the
rear of cabinets
■One dozen #8 self-tappi ng screws
■Repair kit for backplane pins (KS-22876 L2 or equivalent)
■One copy of each of the foll owing manuals:
