Boot the Release 8 System
1. Connect the management terminal to the “TERMINAL” connector behind
PPN control carrier “A,” or install the G3-MA ac cording to the “ Set Up
G3-MA” chapter of
DEFINITY Communications System Generic 3
Management Applications

2. Insert the translation cards in the TN794 fac eplates.
3. At each EPN power distribution unit, set the main circuit breaker to ON.
4. At the PPN power distribution unit, set the main c ircuit breaker to ON.
5. The system performs the reset level 4 rebooting process, loading the
default system translations from the translation c ard. This takes 8 to 11
minutes.
6. Get the order number of the up grade, and ca ll the regional CSA to request
an “init” login so the rig ht-to-use options can be enab led on the upgrad ed
system.

Set Daylight Savings Rules
You can set up to 15 customized d aylight savings time rules. If you have c abinets
in several different time zones, you can set up rules for each on a location basis.
A daylight savings time rul e specifies the exact time when you wan t to transition
to and from daylight saving s time. It also specifies the inc rement at which to
transition.
NOTE:
The default daylight saving s rule is 0, no daylight savings.
