Lock the active SPE (H/C only)
1. Type status spe and press Ente r to determine whic h control carrier is ac tive
or observe the control carrier LEDs.
NOTE:
For high or critical reliab ility systems, we recommend that you
replace the circuit packs in the standb y carrier first.
!CAUTION:
When replacing any hardware, b e sure to ground yourself against
electrostatic disc harge (ESD) by wearing a ground ed wrist strap.
2. Move the SPE-SELECT switches on both Duplicati on Interface (DUPINT)
circuit packs,
one at a time
, to the active carrier.
Check the Active Tone-Clock (H/C only)
1. Type status port-network 1 and verify that the Tone-Clock is in the same
carr ier as the ac tive SPE a nd th at the Service State field shows in.
NOTE:
This takes 1 minute to complete. If the servic e state is incorrect,
repeat the command until this condition is met.
If the active Tone-Clock has not migrated to the ac tive carrier after
1 minute, then a Tone-Clock problem exists. Refer to the TDM-CLK

book to resolve any problems.
Power Down the Processor Carrier
!CAUTION:
Do not power down the whole c abinet; it is not necessary.
For standard reliability, power down the p rocessor carrier. This causes a service
interruption.
For high or critical reliability, power down the standby carrier.
1. To power down the processor carrier, remove the power plug from the
left
side
of the carrier, then remove the power p lug from the
right side
of the
carrier.
