Fiber Link Administration Form
This form administers fiber links, each o f which is identified b y a fiber number.
NOTE:
Fiber link administration only app lies to R5r and later config urations.
Port networks (PNs) are connected via di rect fiber link connec tions or through a
center stage switch (CSS) to provid e the interconnection of por t networks
required for voice/d ata information transfer. The CSS is composed of "switch
nodes" that can be interconnec ted in one or two levels to provid e Port Network
Connectivity (PNC). The CSS provides circuit-switched connectivity for voic e and
data communications as well as packet-switched connectivity. Fiber link
administration permits an ad ministration of translation data assoc iated with a
switch connection (suc h as optical fib er, metallic cable, or DS1CONV circuit
packs an d D S1 facil i t y l i nks betwe en two en dpo i nts). T he two fi be r e ndpoints ca n
be:
An expansion interface (EI) circ uit pack
A switch node interfac e (SNI) circuit pack
NOTE:
Only one administrative terminal ca n administer fiber links at a time;
others can display fib er link information.
