Install Disk Drive (if not TN1657 V4 or earlier)
!CAUTION:

When replacing any hardware, b e sure to ground yourself against

electrostatic disc harge (ESD) by wearing a grounded wrist strap.

!CAUTION:

If a high or critical reliab ility system, replace and restore the disk drives one

at a ti me sta rting with the s tandb y SPE. N ever re plac e th e act ive an d

standby disk d rives at the same time.

1. Type busyout host-adapter [a | b] and press Enter to prevent other
applications from ac cessing the disk or removab le media.
2. Remove the existing TN1657 Disk Drive circuit p ack and place it in
antistatic material.
3. Insert a new TN1657 circuit pac k into the DISK DRIVE slot.
4. To properly seat the circuit pack , push firmly on the front of the facep late
until the latch reaches the botto m rail of the carrier. Then close the latch
until it is fully engaged.
5. Type release host-adapter [a | b] and press Enter to release the d isk from
the maintenance-busyout c ondition and put it b ack into service.
6. Type reset host-adapter [a | b] and press Enter to all ow the disk to spin
up.
7. Type status spe and press Enter to verify that the disk is now in servic e.
NOTE:
If the disk fails to return to service, rep eat Steps 1, 3, 4, and 5.
For high or critical reliabil ity, repeat steps 1 through 7 on the active c arrier.
Restore Disk
NOTE:
Until this command finishes, the system p rovides no user feedbac k on the
management terminal screen. Do not p ress Enter while th e command
executes. Doing so cau ses the terminal screen to clear as the c ommand
finishes; erasing any succ ess or failure messages the system may provid e.
If standard reliability:
1. Type restore disk full and press Enter to c opy the information on the
removable media to disk, whic h takes about 30 minutes.
If high or critical reliab ility:
1. Type restore disk full both and press Enter.
