Install Circuit Packs
1. Replace the circuit p acks and power sup plies in port cab inets “C” and “ D”
if they were previously removed.
2. Using the label on the front of the c arrier and the annotated “li st
configuration all” (p rovided with the Release 8r removab le media), install
the control circuit pa cks into the new expansion c ontrol cabinet.
3. Install the port circuit p acks into the “A” c abinet using the labe l on the front
of the carrier and the annotated “list configuration all” as a guide.
NOTE:
Since the new Release 8r expansion control carrier has 6 more port
slots than the removed control c arrier, there should be no need to
retranslate these circuit pac ks.
4. For an EPN in a critical reliability system, install a TN2182B Tone-Clock
and a TN570 EI in slots “1” and “ 2” of port cab inet “B.” See Table 3-3.

Change Cabinet Address Plugs
If a duplicated control cabinet was removed from position “B” an d was not
replaced with a new p ort cabinet, the upg raded EPN’s port cab inets occupy
different positions in the cab inet stack.
1. Behind each port c abinet, find the ad dress plug attac hed to 2 of the 6
backplane p ins to the right of the pin-field block for slot “00.”
2. Change the location of each p ort cabinet ad dress plug to reflec t the
cabinet’s current p osition. See Figure 3-1.
