Using the CONFIG (Talk 6) Process

You can change the con®guration parameters of the following protocols and features, but you cannot activate the changes using the reset command:

vAppleTalk

vVines

vOSI/DECnet V

vLNM

vXTP

vWAN Restoral

vWAN Reroute

You must restart the device to activate these con®guration changes.

There are also requirements for certain functions. They are:

PPP dial

A PPP dial circuit cannot be reset if any of the dial circuit parameters have

circuits

changed.

Frame Relay

A Frame Relay dial circuit cannot be reset if any of the dial circuit

dial circuits

parameters have changed.

Compression

Compression requires large header and trailer sizes. Unless compression is

already enabled on some other interface, it is likely that the header and

trailer sizes will be too small. In this case, compression is disabled

automatically on the interface and an ELS message is logged (rather than

causing the entire reset interface to fail).

Bridging

v Bridging was not already active.

v NetBIOS ®lters are de®ned on the interface you are resetting.

v The reset interface caused a change to the bridge personality or behavior

(for example, adding SR port to pure TB bridge or SR-TB conversion

enabled).

BGP

Use the BGP reset neighbor command to activate neighbor con®guration

changes.

APPN

Use the activate_new_con®g command to activate con®guration changes.

IPX

Use the IPX reset command to activate con®guration changes for static

routes, static services, and ®lter-lists.

DNA IV

Use the DNA IV set command to activate con®guration changes.

SNMP

Use the SNMP revert command to activate con®guration changes.
