Using the CONFIG (Talk 6) Process

±The CPU board, which contains the con®guration memory chip, was replaced in the router.

v Demonstration purposes, for which the router needs to be quickly con®gured to demonstrate its capabilities.

vBench-marking tests to get the tests going without having to learn the router's operating system commands.

Quick Con®g operates as follows:

vIt asks a series of questions with default values.

vIt offers a short-cut to the detailed con®guration of the normal mode command set.

Quick Con®g sets a number of default parameters based upon how you answer the con®guration questions. What cannot be con®gured with Quick Con®g can be con®gured using Con®g after exiting Quick Con®g.

You cannot delete Quick Con®g information from within Quick Con®g. However, you can correct information either by exiting and returning to Quick Con®g, or by entering the restart command as a response to some Quick Con®g questions.

For complete information on using the Quick Con®g software, see ªAppendix A. Quick Con®guration Referenceº on page 651.

There are two ways to get into Quick Con®g: automatically from EasyStart or manually.

Automatic Entry Into Quick Con®g Mode

If you are in EasyStart and you type stop, the router enters Quick Con®g automatically.

What you cannot con®gure with Quick Con®g you can con®gure using CONFIG processes after exiting Quick Con®g.

You cannot delete Quick Con®g information; but you can correct it by exiting and returning to Quick Con®g.

Manual Entry Into Quick Con®g Mode

You might want to run Quick Con®g manually to demonstrate the router's capabilities or to recon®gure dynamically to perform benchmark tests without having to learn the router's operating system commands.

To enter Quick Con®g, typeqcon®g at the Config> prompt.

Exiting from Quick Con®g Mode

To exit Quick Con®g, restart by enteringr from any prompt. Follow the queries until you enter no and then enter q to quit. The router returns to either the Config (only)> or the Config> prompt.
