Chapter 17. Con®guring and Monitoring LLC Interfaces

This chapter describes how to con®gure speci®c LLC interfaces in the router by using either the interface commands or the GWCON interface command.

Logical Link Level can be thought of as a ªsub-protocolº. It is not accessed directly from either the Talk 6 (con®guration) or the Talk 5 (monitoring) environment. Instead, it is accessed from the Token Ring, Point-to-Point (PPP), or Frame Relay protocols by entering an LLC command.

Accessing the Interface Con®guration Process

Access the con®guration commands for the protocol you wish to con®gure over LLC:

vToken Ring, as described in ªChapter 16. Con®guring IEEE 802.5 Token-Ring Network Interfacesº on page 225

vPoint-to-Point, as described in ªChapter 32. Using Point-to-Point Protocol Interfacesº on page 449

vFrame Relay, as described in ªChapter 30. Using Frame Relay Interfacesº on page 387

Each of these prompt levels has an LLC command. Enter LLC to access the LLC con®guration commands and perform LCC con®guration. When you are ®nished, enter Exit to return to the prompt level for the protocol you are con®guring.

LLC Con®guration Commands

LLC con®guration is required when you need to pass packets over an SNA network. To enter these commands, you must ®rst enter the LLC con®guration environment (see ªAccessing the Token-Ring Interface Con®guration Processº on page 225).

This section summarizes and then explains all of the LLC con®guration commands. These commands, shown in Table 31, enable you to con®gure LLC when you need to pass packets over a SNA network.

List	Displays the selected LLC con®guration.
Set	Sets the timers associated with LLC, and the size of the transmit
