Connecting a Second Printer via Serial

After connecting a printer to the 5250 OPTIMA via SERIAL I/O PORT 1, a second printer may be connected via SERIAL I/O PORT 0.

SERIAL I/O PORT 0 has a DB-25, DCE-standard pin-out. It is intended primarily for use as an alternate host port; however, it may be used as an output port to a printer.

The cable necessary to connect SERIAL I/O PORT 0 to a printer may be ordered from AGILE.

To connect the OPTIMA to the printer:

1.Insert the printer end of the serial printer cable into the connector on the rear of the printer.

2.Tighten the thumbscrews until the connection is firm, but do not overtighten.
