Install System Cabinets
Check the location of the AC power recep tacles in the equip m ent room. The
receptacles must b e on a separately fused ci rcuit not controlled by a wall switc h.
They must be located wi thin 10 feet (3 m) of the cab inet and outsid e the Main
Distribution Frame (MDF) area.

Position the PPN Cabinet

1. If the system is supplied with cab l e d uctwork, space the cabinets on 32
inch (81.3 cm) c enters +-1/8 inc h (0.3 cm), they must b e level, and must
be square with respect to eac h other.
2. If the system is supplied with c able slack managers, place the cab inets far
enough from the connec tion field to lay d own the 32 inch (81.3 cm) slack
managers and to provide a little extra room for t he cables to ac cess the
cable slack manag ers.
3. If earthq uake protection is requ ired , skip to ‘‘Earthquake Protection
Installation’’ on page 1-34.
4. If earthq uake protection is not required , level the cabinets and ad just and
lock the cabinet stab ilizing bolts to keep the c abinet from moving.
5. At the b ottom of the cabinet, install hole plug s (p rovided with cab inet) in
the holes previously occup ied by the 4 carriag e bolts.

Position the EPN Cabinets

Each EPN cabinet is normally positioned adjacent to the PPN cabi net but may be
located remotely in a d ifferent room or a different buil ding.
1. The p rocedure for ins t allin g an EPN cabinet is the sa me as for the PPN
cabinet.
2. If earthq uake protection is requ ired , skip to ‘‘Earthquake Protection
Installation’’ on page 1-34.
3. If earthq uake protection is not required , level the cabinets and ad just and
lock the cabinet stab ilizing bolts to keep the c abinets from moving.
