No Answer
Time- Out Most external mod ems provide a timer that aban dons any outbound d ata
call after a pred etermined interval. Some modems d isable this timer,
allowing an outbound call to ring i ndefinitely. Paradyne does n ot provide
this capab ility because it is und esirable to have an outb ound call attemp t
to ring indefinitely. Therefore, the initialization string must contain the
following ASCII string to set the “No-Answer Timer” to the maximum value:
S7=255. The internal modem must have this parameter disab led or set to
at least 255 seconds. This is a non-administrable p aram et er.
For the modem connec tion, this parameter is the first initialization string to
be transmitted to the modem. This field is visib le on the administration
form in display mod e only. The new field is set to S7=255. This hardcod ed
constant can be overrid den for type ap p roval applic ations, specific al ly in
the United Kingdom and other Western European nations, by the use of
the “Misc. Init. Param:” field. (S7=255)
