Possible Defects: Cleaner unit drive belt

Erase lamp assembly

Developer unit

1 Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord.

Perform the every-call cleaning procedure, described in Chapter 9, “General Printer Mainte- nance” .

Turn the printer on.

Run test prints.

Has the problem been resolved?

No: Continue.

Yes: Contamination was at fault. Turn to TAG 002: Check & Problem Resolution.

2 Open the printer’s back cover.

Remove the paper feed drive cover.

Check the cleaner unit drive belt.

Is the belt attached?

No: Repair or replace the cleaner unit drive belt, then turn to TAG 002: Check & Problem Resolution.

Yes: Continue.

3 Check the voltages, as outlined in Chapter 9, “General Printer Maintenance” .

Are the voltages correct?

No: Replace the high voltage power supply unit, then turn to TAG 002: Check & Problem Resolution.

Yes: Continue.

4 Have the cleaner unit, developer unit with new toner cartridge, and photoconductor unit been replaced recently?

No: Continue.

Yes: Go to #8 in this TAG.

5 Replace the cleaner unit.

Run test prints.

Has the problem been resolved?

No: Reinstall the original cleaner unit and continue.

Yes: Turn to TAG 002: Check & Problem Resolution.
