RIP Commands

default-metric

The default-metriccommand specifies a new RIP default metric value. The no metric command returns the metric value to the default.

Use the default-metriccommand to set the current protocol to the same metric value for all distributed routes. The default-metriccommand is used with the redistribute command to obtain the same metric value for all distributed protocol-specific routes.

Note: This command assures that metrics are compatible during route redistribution. The default metric delivers an alternate for successful distribution if the network metrics are not converted.
