bgp always-compare-med

The bgp always-compare-medcommand enables comparison of the Multi-exit Discriminator (MED) from path entries from different ASs. The no bgp always-compare-medcommand stops comparisons.

Use the bgp always-compareMED command to change the default, allowing comparison of MEDs, which are received from any autonomous system. By default, during the best-path selection process, MED comparison is done only among paths from the same autonomous system. This command changes the default behavior by allowing comparison of MEDs among paths regardless of the autonomous system from which the paths are received.

The MED path, considered the best path, is the parameter used when selecting the paths compared to many other options. The preference between a path with a lower MED and a path with a higher MED, is the lower MED path.
