6 Glossary

Message Box Integration

The NEC telephone system can transfer calls directly to an extension

and/or the subscriber voice mailbox when the extension is ring-no-

answer or busy.

Message Delivery

The system calls the subscriber to indicate new messages. T he

subscriber must enter a Personal ID to hea r the messages.

Message Group

A collection of subscribers and/or guests that receive a common

message left by a subscriber. Refer to Broadcast dis t rib ution, Dispatch

distribution, Private

group and Open

group.

Message Notification

A feature used by the voice mail sy stem to n otify a subs criber o f new

messages.

Message Waiting Lamp

A light on an extension telephone that is lit when the applic able

subscriber has new messages.

Names

Refer to Spelled name or Voice name.

Night Mode

All times not in Day Mode.

Numeric Directory Assistance

A special directory assista nce for callers with touchtone keypad s

without letters, or for other special directory assistance applicat ions.

Creates numeric directory assistance with directory groups and

directory menus.

Open Group

All authorized subscribers on the system can send messages to an

open message group. Usually, a subscribe r is authorized to leave a

message for any open gr oup. Individual subscribers can be prevented

from creating open groups or leaving open group me s s ag es by placing
