Discovery through Non-CDP-Capable and Noncluster-Capable Devices

If a command switch is connected to a non-CDP-c apable thi rd-party hub ( such as a non -Cisco hub ), it
can disco ver clus ter-en abled de vices conne cted to that third-party hub. Ho we ver , if the command switch
is connected to a noncluster-capable Cisco device, it cannot discov er a cluster -enabled device connected
beyond the nonc lust er-capabl e C is co device.
Figure 6-3 shows that the command switch discovers the Catalyst 3500 XL switch, which is connected
to a third- pa rty hub. However, th e co mmand sw itch d oes no t disc over the Ca talyst 2950 sw it ch t hat is
connec ted to a Cataly st 5000 switch.
